Lake Oswego enforces Oregon's state eBike rules and points riders to the state statutes directly. The city's police department has run eBike-focused patrols, so enforcement here is active even though the underlying rules are the state's.

Sidewalks
eBikes are never allowed on sidewalks, under ORS 814.410. The city states this plainly in its own rider guidance. Dismount and walk if you need to use one.
Minimum age
16 to operate an eBike, under state law. The Lake Oswego School District applies this directly: elementary and middle school students may not bring eBikes onto campus, because no student that age can legally ride one.
Where you can ride
Riders must use a bike lane where one is adjacent to or near the roadway (ORS 814.420). eBikes are allowed on bike paths and in crosswalks. Lake Oswego Code 32.10.810 sets out the city's general requirements for operating bicycles.
Helmets
Required under 16 (ORS 814.485). Since eBike riders must be 16 or older, adult riders are not legally required to wear one — we still recommend it.
