Can I ride an eBike on the sidewalk?
No. ORS 814.410(1)(e) bans eBikes from sidewalks statewide, so the rule is the same in Oregon City, West Linn, and Lake Oswego.
Do I need a license or registration?
No. Under Oregon's framework, eBikes are treated as bicycles, not motor vehicles.
What's the minimum age to ride?
16 across all three cities and statewide. Oregon's HB 4007, passed in March 2026, lowers the Class 1 minimum to 14 — but that takes effect January 1, 2027, so 16 still applies to every class today.
Do local rules override general access?
Yes. Local park, path, and trail signs still apply, and cities can add their own restrictions. When in doubt, assume the stricter rule applies.
