Oregon state law, at a glance
Motor power cap:
1,000W maximum.
Assist cutoff:
20 mph under the statutory definition.
Sidewalk riding:
Prohibited statewide for every class of eBike under ORS 814.410(1)(e).
Minimum age:
16 under standard DMV guidance. HB 4007 passed in March 2026 and lowers the Class 1 minimum to 14, but it does not take effect until January 1, 2027 — through the end of 2026, 16 still applies to all three classes.
License or registration:
Not required for standard eBikes.
